Band Biograhpy
Billie Joe and Mike founded the band, which used to be called sweet children. The first conversation the two of them had was actually about writing a song! Billie Joe wrote his first song at the age of 14, it was called "Why do you want him?" and was about his mother and step Father. In 1987 Al Sobrante joined the band and Sweet Children was completly formed
The first EP they recorded under the name Green Day was "1,000 hours" They were 17 at the time.

Mike Graduated from High School, but Billie dropped out the day before his 18th Birthday. They released there deput album "1,039 smoothed out slappy hours" In 1990, and it was a compilation of 3 EP's they'd made before.
Al Sobrante left the band to go to college, and the guy who taught him drums took over in the band. This was, of course Tre Cool. Billie has said that he doesn't think the band would have been as succesful as they are today If Tre wasn't there drummer. They then Released "Kerplunk" In 1991. It was there last album on Look Out Records.
They signed to Reprise Records in 1993, but it was a hard decision for the band to go to a major, and after they did the underground punk scene exiled them. They released "Dookie" In 1994, and soon reached stardom with songs like "Basket Case" and "When I come around"
There next album, "Insomniac" wasn't as succesfull as "Dookie", but that didn't deture them, and they soon released "Nimrod" Which contained one of there best known songs "Good Riddance" Or better known as "Time of your life"
"Warning" was a slightly more mellow kind of Punk Rock, but still had some hits like "Minority". They then released there greatest hits album "International Superhits" and to go with it "Shananigans" which was a mix of covers and B sides from the band.
There latest album is "American Idiot" A Punk rock opera with two nine minute songs. After having finished a new album it was stolen, so they had to start ll over again. But the result was excellent. There Producer later said there stolen album was actaully there worst ever. They are currently touring for this album. And are now the biggest rock band in the world
