Family : Mike was adopted. His adoptive parents divorced when he was 7, and both are now remarried. I know Mike has at least one step sister named Myla

Mike was born in 1972. His mother was heroin addict, and Mike was given up for adoption when he was a baby. His adoptive mother was native american and his adoptive dad white american. He also had a adoptive or step sister, but I don't know which. His adoptive parents got divorced when he was 7, and first of all he lived with his dad. But they argued alot so he went to live with his mother. He lived with her and they were on the borderline of poverty. And his sister left home when she was 13. "There were all sorts of things happening," says Mike. "When I was in fourth or fifth grade, my mom stayed out all night, came home the next day with a guy, and he moved in. I'd never met the guy before, and all of a sudden he's my stepdad. We didn't get along for years. Later on, when I hit high school, my mom moved away from us, and me and my stepdad got real close. He instilled a lot in me. The one thing my family did give me is blue-collar morals. But then he died when I was 17."
Mike had already moved out when his step dad died. He left when he was 15 and first of all he lived out of his truck. Then he rented a room in Billie joe's house. After that he lived in a punk squatter building. Mike and Billie would work on weekends at the Gilman street project. He carried on at high school, but almost didn't graduate. Because his adoptive mother refused to sign his mandatory-attentance forms. "I took my mom aside," Mike says. "I said, 'This is how it is. You have so much shit going on in your life, so if once every semester you ask me if I've done my homework and jump all over my case, that's not right. Have I failed yet? No. And I'm going to graduate if you stay off my back. The one time in your life you chose to have morals, and it's going to fuck me up. Don't play mom once a year. It doens't fucking cut it.'"
He married his long term girlfrined in 1996, and they have a daughter called Estella-Desiree who was born in 1997.His nickname for his daughter is Hero. Mike and her mum, Anastasia, are divorced but still good friends. He then got remarried. But that wife left him because he was spending to much time in the studio while recoding American Idiot. He lives in Oakland Calafonia, and owns a resterant called "Rudy's can't fall Cafe" after a song by the clash
