GOOD CHARLOTTE biography
Good Charlotte started off in 1996 after Joel and Benji Madden went to a Beastie Boys concert. They'd never played an instrument of sung a note before but after having seen the Beastie boys in 1995 they were determined to form there own band.

They got two of their freinds in high school to join the band. Paul on bass and Aaron on drums. Later they met Billy and he joined them on guitar. The name Good Charlotte came from a children's story book.
They started out in Maryland on the East coast of America. They all loved 70's punk rock but also more mainstream and ballad like rock. They played all over the D.C area and played the WHFS annual rock show in both 1998 and 1999.
In 2000 they released their first album "Good Charlotte" on Epic records. But the album never really took off. In 2002 they released "The young and the hopeless" This record really sent Good Charlotte into the mainstream.
In 2004 they released their newest album "The chronicals of life and death" Which showed a far move mature side to the band. Currently the band are thinking about the next album and Joel is very kean to record again. But sadly this year their second drummer Chris left the band.

The Music
Good charlotte
As a debut album they don't get alot better. It's got some classics, like waldorf worldwide, The click and The mostivation proclamation, but also some less odvious, but still great songs like seasons and Screamer. The same vibe is basicly the same all the same allthrough. And it's what most teenagers who like rock wanna hear songs about. They're about what it's like being a misfit/outcast, But suprisingly there's no repetition. The music isn't very developed or full but still a fantastic album.
The young and the hopeless
Now I have to say this isn't my favorite good charlotte album. But simply because I've heard all the songs that were released so many times It's like a repetition. My favorite here is definitly Hold On. It's one of those songs you chuck in the cd player when you feel really down and it lifts you back up. I'm betting it's saved a hell of alot of people from suicide, which is incidently the purpose of the song. Other greats on here are The Young And The Hopeless, Day That I Die and Movin' On.
Choronicals Of Life And Death. (Life and death versions)
This is at the moment my favoite Good Charlotte album. The music's got so much more substance than the other albums it's unbelievable. It starts with the Instumental, Once Upon A Time. It's wonderfull to really draw you in and is really deep. But the Chroniclas of life and Death with its SLIGHTLY pop feel to it will bring you right back with you head banging. The album let's its self down on I Just Wanna Live. Athough yes the message is a good one, the fats the Joel goes WAY to high on the chrous I'm afraid ruined the song for me. My favorites are The World Is Black and In This World (Murder) A must have for punk fans.
